The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of November is vintage jewelry artist Cathie Ann Amelotte.

The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery featured artist for the month of November is vintage jewelry artist Cathie Ann Amelotte.

Amelotte, a 40-year Hawaii resident, creates jewelry that reflects her many years in the tropical setting and the fashion business. Her jewelry creations contain components of advanced age with a vintage slant, a rare and beautiful collection of repurposed jewelry that she has collected from various parts of the world. The combination of aged and revived beads gives her jewelry a unique blend of the old and new.

In addition to jewelry, Amelotte recently came across a pattern for fabric microwave bags used for warming vegetables, taco shells and potatoes. She has created the bags in aloha print fabric. Keeping in the spirit of re-utilization, the bags can be used over and over again and are hand-washable. She will be demonstrating their use at her reception. She has also crafted fabric jewelry bags that contain vintage components.

The Blue Sea Artisans will host an artist’s reception for Amelotte from 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Kona International Market gallery on Luhia Street. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
